On Friday, November 22, 2024, the Lewondell Team visited Sinkor Old Road, Vai Town Community, as part of the Community Outreach Program to learn first-hand about the plight of disadvantaged youth (mentally challenged) in this community.
The information from the outreach would give insight into strategies to bring relief to the thousands of disadvantaged youths living on the streets.
The Police contingent in the Vai Town Community provided the security and the order for the Lewondell Team to meet and discuss the dismal conditions of the disadvantaged young people.
There were more than 100 of them, which included 8 females. The Lewondell Team distributed food to about 298 people including police personnel, prisoners, and disadvantaged young people.
It was discovered as articulated by two of the youth who responded as feedback to the Lewondell visit. The following was gathered for the feedback:
• They desire to be totally transformed, not only fed with food.
• To be totally fulfilled.
• They desire to change their habits.
• They desire to be rehabilitated.
• They are tired of living on the streets.

“My desire is to be rehabilitated. I am willing to be transformed, with changed habits. I am tired of living on the streets.”
In response they were assured by the CEO of Lewondell that their concerns are genuine and Lewondell is poised to provide services to help address their plight as expressed above, through counselling, getting them to rehabilitation centres, skills training and providing employment opportunities for them.
